Camera Repair Manual Links

Reprints, and scans of manuals can be downloaded directly from most of these sites. Wherever possible I have selected sites where downloads can be made for free, however in come cases a fee may be payable.

The free downloads are of variable quality, but most will be usable, and some are quite high quality. I cannot comment on paid downloads, or hardcopies of manuals from any of these sites, as being half Scottish I can think of better uses for my beer tokens. In any case many of the 'official' manuals are of little use to the hobby repairman, and some are not a lot of use to professionals.

Sometimes this is because they refer to proprietary test devices, which would only be available to franchised repairers, or simply advise replacement of a whole assembly with a new one. (Which is not a useful solution when new assemblies are not available.

However, many are invaluable resources often describing set-up procedures in detail, and circuit diagrams etc. Very useful for cameras with loose wires.

Link Description
Kim Coxon's Pentax Repair Manual page.

Manuals for classic Pentax's. Some very good manuals available here in freely downloadable PDF format.

Some of the PDF's are password protected for some reason, but the password is simply 'Pentax'. Personally I don't see why the password is required, the site author say's that this is in order to prevent resale on CD on eBay etc, but I don't see how that would work.

(IMHO there is not a lot of difference between selling a compilation on eBay and publishing free on the internet. Strictly speaking both are infringing the copyright.)

Alan Corey's Yashica Manual Scans.

These are hosted by the site author on his University of Massachusetts account.

High quality gif images of official assembly diagrams. Quality is good. Includes Yashica Mat 124G.

Kyphoto Repair Manuals

Another page from the excellent Kyphoto Site. Good quality scans.

(Again password protected files! Are they trying to block hot-linking to the scanned image perhaps?)

Yashica Guy's Lynx rescue.

As above but Yashica Lynx.

Some repetition but nevertheless.

BTW it's 'silicon' not 'silicone'. One is an element, the other is a generic term for a bunch of synthetic chemicals. (Call me picky, but to me it's like trying to listen to Beethoven played off key!)

Alan Corey's Yashica repair manual

Actually a hand typed transcription from an actual Yashica ELectro-X repair manual, but with the spelling mistakes removed, and translation fixed-up.

Probably better than the real thing!

Not sure I agree with the disclaimer about always breaking the first camera you ever attempt to repair!

Mark Roberts Photography

More repair manuals for Pentax, and not password required.

Old Timer Cameras

Dead link! If anyone knows if this site is hosted elsewhere please mail me!

Lot's of manuals, but not free. Even ones you can get for free elsewhere! I haven't actually purchased any manuals from this site, but I would expect to get a high quality document.

eServiceInfo

Yet another K1000 manual! However lots of other general service manuals, available by search from this site.

Actually I downloaded the manual here some time back, and it is very detailed.

Note: This page may try and download the manual automatically. If it does don't panic, it's not a virus. The files are compressed in .rar format. To unzip them you will need to browse for a suitable program. It shouldn't be hard to find.
